Women in Timmins are showing they care through new group
The 100 Women Who Care Timmins and Area group is excited to hold its inaugural meeting at the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre on January 26. This event will mark the beginning of a meaningful initiative aimed at making a significant impact on local charities. The registration for the meeting will start at 12:00 p.m., followed by a social hour before the official meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. Both in-person and virtual options will be available to ensure accessibility for all interested participants.
100 Women Who Care is a dynamic and impactful organization with a simple but powerful premise: gather women who are passionate about giving back to their communities and channel their collective resources toward making a difference. Members are asked to commit to donating $100 four times a year. This donation model allows the group to pool their contributions and make a larger, more immediate impact on local charitable organizations.
Kim Hallworth, the chair of 100 Women Who Care Timmins and Area, spoke about the group's vision for the future. “We’re bringing together women who want to make an immediate, direct impact in our community,” she said. “In just one hour, four times a year, we can create significant positive change for local organizations and individuals in need.” With the power of collective giving, the group aims to support charities that directly benefit people in the Timmins and surrounding areas.
This initiative is part of a larger global movement, with over 800 chapters of 100 Women Who Care worldwide. Each chapter operates with the same core mission – to support and uplift communities by empowering women to make a tangible difference through charitable donations. Timmins and Area is fortunate to join this growing network of women-driven change, and the group's leaders are eager to see the ripple effect their collective donations will have on the community.
At the inaugural meeting, members will have the opportunity to vote on which local charity will receive the first round of donations. This process ensures that the donations go directly to the causes that the members care about most. The group encourages the community to become involved not only by joining as members but also by considering sponsorship opportunities to help with administration costs and other necessities. Sponsorship will play a crucial role in helping the group maintain its operations and ensure that every dollar donated by members goes directly to supporting local charities.
The event will be a special occasion, beginning with a social hour from noon to 1:00 p.m., allowing participants to connect with like-minded women and share their thoughts on charitable giving. The meeting itself will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will include introductions, information about the organization, and a voting session on which local charity will receive the group’s first donation. This gathering promises to be an exciting start to what will undoubtedly become an annual tradition of charitable giving in the Timmins community.
The organizers of 100 Women Who Care Timmins and Area are hoping to create a lasting legacy of giving that can address pressing needs in the region. The group's impact will extend beyond the financial support provided to charities; it will foster a sense of solidarity among women and create a powerful network of change-makers.
As the first meeting approaches, the group is calling on women in Timmins and surrounding areas to consider joining this incredible initiative. Whether you are looking to make a difference in the lives of local individuals, support charitable organizations, or be part of a growing community of women dedicated to creating positive change, 100 Women Who Care Timmins and Area offers a unique and fulfilling opportunity to give back. Join them in making a lasting impact – one donation at a time.
