Collaborating with DIY Community Health, the team hopes to rebuild trust and support vulnerable individuals through mutual aid and volunteer programs. Mauro emphasizes that every purchase made at the store helps fund vital initiatives, making it possible to give back to the community. With piles of donated clothes and a growing network of support, Jan’s Closet is creating a brighter future for Timmins.

Timmins High and Vocational School’s music program is hitting a high note this Saturday, Jan. 18, as The Headframes take the stage. After years of silence due to the pandemic, the band is rehearsing daily to showcase their talent.
“We’re trying to build up the program,” said music teacher Curtis Clemence. “The kids are sounding pretty good right now, and I’m excited that we get to start something new and rebrand it.”
The students have embraced a mix of classic rock, pop, and country songs, blending their musical skills with technical know-how in stage setup and sound engineering.
Grade 12 student Tara Kiani, who manages the band’s social media, reflected on the experience: “It’s been cool reaching out to the media and using social platforms to market our band.”
The Headframes’ concert begins at 7 p.m. on Jan. 18 at Timmins High. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults, and free for Grade 8 and under.
